here comes the poltergeist!!!
I have adjusted today the mixture screw; and the position I get the maximum revolution is.... almost outside!!!!
I am starting to not understand a thing. If the carburetor takes too much fuel, the mixture screw should go correctly near minimum and not at maximum ???
I think that the problem may come from a faulty bouy in the carburetor bottom. I think it doesnt stop the fuel correctly and so, the engines needs less suction to put gasoline inside; therefore it puts more than it should.
does it make sense?

Put the carburettor properly. The petrol air mixture is not right. Screw the mixture screw quite purely and then afterwards rotations again out. Then you begin the warm engine and turn the screw so long, until the speed is the highest.

Hello all,
the spark plug is a NGK B9ES, equivalent to the Champion N2C recommended by piaggio. So the problem cannot be the heat grade of the sparl plug.
I will check the choke and I will ask for main jets smaller than the 90 I have.
If you have any idea I would love to hear it.

Hello all,
I have opened the carburetor today.
The main jet I have is original Mikuni 90
The spark plug looks like this one (the top one):
It is not wet. It is only black and dry.
I havent looked at thespark plug code, but I will do it this afternoon and I will post it after
Any ideas?
what sould I do?
Should I start lowering the main jet checking the spark plug?
Checking the starter?

Grundstzlich gilt hier:

Hello Frank,
thanks for your effort in Spanish, but unluckily the translator mixes up everything and it is very difficult to read. In fact I have understood little of your message before. If it is difficult for you to write in english, write it in german, I can understand some of it and I work the rest out with translators.
About my Hexagon; news of today.
I have taken out the air filter(plastic and foam) and I have started the engine. It went correctly and tha bike run normally (even with a little more power)
conclusion. There is too much fuel. If the mixture was correct before taking the filter out, once I had taken it out it would be to lean (too little fuel) and the engine would have very little power.
There was also oil in the air filter (like 2t oil) which I believe must go backwards at the carburetor. I have seen this sometimes.
So I will have a look at the carburetor and the main jets size and start putting smaller main jets until I see a light brown colour in the spark plug.
About the Hexagons in Spain, there arent too many 150 2T but there are quite a lot of 180 4T. 2T engines are not very popular nowadays in Spain; its a pity...

hexagon 150 fuel consumption, 13 Dec. 2006 18:00

Hello All
I have an Hexagon 150 with a problem of high fuel consumption (10l/100km in urban use and 7l/100km in road use)
I have read everything I have found in the forum, but I am not sure of the problem. I have a friend that used to have one and his fuel consumption was around 5l/100km so this ratio can be achievable with mine too.
The carburetor is (I believe) a Mikuni VM20, but I havent opened it yet so I dont know tha main jets size. 2 strokes engines are quite simple so the failure should be rather easy to find.
-the air filter is clean
-the spark plug is very dark
my doubts are:
-maybe the e-choke is not working. doesnt seem very probable because it runs well at 120km/h
-maybe the main jet is very big this may explain why the spark plug is very dark and not light brown as it should.
-I have no idea on the position of the air mixture screw nor the air needle.
I would thank information on the following:
-what is the standard main jet size? (I believe 90)
-How can I test if the e-choke works correctly?
-is it a good idea to change the choke system from an electronic system to a manual one?
-what is the air mixture screws standard position?
-what is the air needles standard position?
I would thank your cooperation. Sorry for not writing in german but my english is much better and I can explain myself better.
Thanks,
Pieziquierdo,
